It started with a phone call, Now then Martin, what you up to tomorrow? asks Hawkeye! erm nothing I replied. Are you at work Mike asked? No I replied.

Can you get down here for 8am he asked? Yeah I should be able to!

OK see you then!

That evening I got my light weight carts sorted, my Shotgun ready and was buzzing all night! I set off at 6:30 and headed down stockton way. I got to mikes about 7:30 and transfered my gear in to mikes motor and off we went!

We were to meet Scaffy down there for a day on the crows. When we arrived Mike took a look about to see what was flighting in, There seemed to be plenty of interest around the silage heap and the slurry pit! And a fair few buzzing in from the lower fields.

We waited for Steve to arrive and sorted out the fields to cover. Steve chose a field over the far end of the farm, Mike chose the field directly behind the silage heap.

We set up (OK Mike did the majority of it) and I helped prop a few deeks on the surrounding structures. Put the hide up and settled in.

We weren't in there too long before the first few birds started to flight over in singles or pairs. then a shot rang out with a follow up thud and Mike had bagged the first.

Of course I had took my lightweight conffetti cartridges so I didn't have to heavy a bag. In all honesty I shot like a ****! I think I had a C2K ratio of about 4-1 if not a little worse. Of course Mike is ever the rib nudger and you get a good ribbing and a laugh. And BOY did we laugh. I had not long since missed a bird, and my phone went!

I kid you not! It was OPTICAL EXPRESS. I was creased laughing, and said to Mike! They are clever people! How did they know I missed that bird then?

I was gutted to have missed my first corvid left and right! Dropped the first with the front trigger and shifted to the rear and missed. I was quite peeved, but there you go! Shame really! As mike said I did get a left and right! Only an hour apart

We heard 2 or 3 shots from Steve but didn't think he was getting much over his way so Mike rang him! He was doing better than us at one point!

At the end of the day we had 20 between Mike and I and Steve had 20 also. I had a belting day out in great company, and can't thank Mike enough for that!

Think next time I will take a Banjo, Perhaps I can hit the birds with that

Enjoyed your company Martin good time and good banter,we keep getting more every time we go out..

Got a call from one of the farms i used to shoot this morning was still in bed asking if i still sorted pigeons out round the buildings..

Said i would have a look later today, rang scaffy he came down and we took of over to the farm.

There were quite a few flying around farmer said he had some other lads do it last year felt like telling him he should have rang them..

When i asked who they were he said they were from Guisborough gun club and they were useless hardly shot any.

Any way scaffy and myself had a walk round the buildings Scaffy got a couple with the air rifle then we decided to use the shotties.

Had a couple of hours and got 23 picked most up a few ended on the building roofs, more fox bait that we dropped of at the penthouse for the farmer to put out for bait..
