One of the worst things in my opinion is driving two hours when you are nice and warm then having to get changed at the back of the car with the cold wind and rain.

Once its done and you are on your way you forget, till next time.

Its ok for those who live a stones throw from the marsh they just come in their jimjams.

Regards

ps saying that I am still looking forward to the coming season. :good:

The worst thing ... twice I have driven down to the coast , got ready only to find I left my gun at home with the birds piling in low over the sea wall. Worse still the first time it happened I got down to the marsh early realised the gun was at home , all was not lost as there was still an hour before dawn , drove like a mainic 10 miles home , got the gun and then when returning to the coast hit a patch of black ice and wrote the car off.

The, " you drove 2 hours there and 2 hours back in the middle of the night, waking me up in the mean time with your alarm and getting your gun out the cabinet, and you came home empty handed with a bag full of washing for me to now do!!!"

That I get off the mrs 9 times out of 10"

But she still buys me all the toys I could wish for to pursue my hobby, so she can't mind that much:-)

Can defiantly vouch for the getting out the car in the wind and rain tho!!!

Misfires with a muzzle loading punt gun.

It`s happened to me three times, and each time with a decent shot in prospect. On those occasions, with some desperate one handed fiddling with percussion caps from a prone position, I`ve managed to get the shot off, but never was the pick up what it might have been at the golden moment when the cap went "phutt"!

Ones of the worst things I find when wildfowling is losing something you have just shot or fired at , I know at times we all lose the odd bird but I still find it hard to get over when you do lose something despite during your best to find it yourself or getting your dog to retrieve it .

I'll go along with that. A failure to retrieve something from the bag does ruin the day. I'd rather not get a shot.
