I believe you can actually shore fish for skate in some of the lochs .

There have been 200lb + skate from from the shore here in the Isle of Harris so quite possibly in Mull, Should be plenty of pollack to the spinner or fly though, I expect !

This wil be our third visit to Mull in as many years. I have flyfished lochTorr and Frisha, catching lots of wild brownies on dry fly(nothing above 5 inches though). I tried spinning in the sea and landed a couple of pollock and sea trout that were smaller than the spinner. Absolutely fantastic as you can watch the sea otters and sea eagles fishing at the same time. I was hoping that someone may know of some 'hotspot'.

have been to mull but not fished it,did fish the jetty and entrance to loch aline,the jetty is were they load the timber boats trouble is you cant get bottom there,i looked at the chart in the hotel there an I kid u not its 200 fathoms.but did get mackerel n Pollack on feathers.

Been to Mull many many times, and just to show its a small world I have also fished the very timber jetty at the end of the Movern to lochaline hotel road you mention, here is a view from that jetty to bring back a few memories

where are you staying in Mull

 

Fished most of the rivers and lochs with varying degrees of success, usual 1/4-1/2lb brownies with some solid 3-4lb browns. caught my first grilse on the Forsa before they **** it with diggers!!

have fished the north west coast from the river Ba round to Calgary Bay

some good mackerel, Pollack, sea trout spots
