How to get rid of green algae of a pond ?

Recommended Posts

In the short term manually removing it by twirling sticks in it and lifting it out will work but long term you have to reduce the amount of nutrients in the water and limit the light, so plant trees to shade it and don't over feed fish, ducks etc. Fertiliser run-off can make it much worse too.

As fenboy says we used to just put a few bales tied across the inlets to the pond every spring before anything showed and u never really had any bother.

There would be odd years if we were late getting bales in or early warm spell alagae would build up but bales soon sorted it.
