Well after dropping my HW 77k off at Sandwell on 4thh April i received the rifle back yesterday. The rifle was so well packaged so as to avoid damage i was impressed with that alone.

On opening the rifle box i could see the rifle was wearing its little Sandwell Field Sports logo. The rifle had been wiped down before being packaged and inside also was a with compliments slip signed by Tony Wall.

Having just got in from work i quickly put the scope back on and headed out into the garden with a card to see what the rifle was like. The maximum range i can squeeze from the garden is 20 metres. On cocking the rifle it was instantly noticeable how smooth and quiet the the action was. I thumbed an AA Express into the breech and returned the cocking lever back to its position.

From a kneeling position i fired the first shot into the target card. WOW!!!! The rifle is so smooth with minimal recoil and just a gentle nudge to the shoulder. The already excellent rekord trigger is now in a different league. The best trigger i have used on any spring gun including the CD trigger on my now sold Prosport. The next five shots put an 8mm group together without any adjustment to the scope. I'll try the rifle out properly and fine tune to my usual 30 yard zero at the weekend but first impressions are the stage 2 tune has transformed this rifle into what will probably be the best spring rifle i have ever owned. A keeper shall we say.

I intend to phone Sandwell in the next couple of days to commend them for their truly excellent work and outstanding service.

Yes its been a bit of a long wait from when i first dropped the rifle off but boy has it been worth it and i would say that if anyone is considering a tune on their springer then give Sandwell a call as you won't be disappointed. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait but be patient. Money well spent IMO. Thanks Sandwell :good:

How much 'all in' out of interest?

I have a 'new to me' HW97K which shoots lovely now but interested to see how much better it could be.

ATB Moor Man.

Would also be interested. Do airguns have to be sent by RFD now as well,(assuming so)? I'm in scotland so adds a bit if cost. Had a 77k for 11 years now and was purchased s/h so could probably do with a tune up Edited by wildfowler.250

Give them a ring for a price , been a while since I had mime done and cannot remember what I paid .

You can send airguns by Parcel force or Royal mail special delivery if they fit within their size restrictions.

Costs are, Stage 1 tune £90 and Stage 2 £145. I dropped the rifle off in person and paid for return carriage only which was £15. There is no requirement to have the gun sent to an RFD as its "your" gun so that doesnt apply. They send the gun straight back to your home address.

The difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 is that the Stage 2 involves quite a bit of machine work using Delrin and also machine work to rear of block. I'm not too technical but i'm told there is quite a bit of work involved equating to more time or man hours if you like. Both tunes include spring replacement and trigger tune. If you want to know the full ins and outs give Sandwell a call and they'll explain everything. They are incredibly helpful.

I think the Stage 2 tune is more beneficial if you're shooting HFT. Like i said in my original post the rifle is unbelievably smooth on firing.

Hope this helps :good:
