Ducati's best kept secret!

The old st range, had them all, st2, st4s, st3s and the best, the st4!

I say best, it is for me. It will blast and handle, give sport fours harassment from behind and then tootle down single track roads painlessly!

The st4s was too much for me, 100hp is plenty for this old f.......eller.

The st2 had no suspension adjustment and was a little down on power but good all the same and the 3 was well good but hmmm, to civilized, if that makes sense!

Anyhoooo, 186 miles today around north Wales, crackin'.

Looking back to Denbigh moore on the road to Nebo.

I love the idea of them. Owning them is another matter. Back in the day I bought a brand new 900ss and it was back for serious warranty repairs 7 times in 6 months. Seemed I was always riding the shop Yamaha while paying for a Ducati.

Got rid of that for a 10 month old 916 and it was just the same.

Went Jap for a while but my last couple of bikes have been Aprilias so heading back the Italian route. Ducatis still have the best noise of any road bike. Maybe one day. :good:

That was a shame walshie, my carbie ss750 was ace. Went around Scotland on it.

Love Aprilia's too, Falco and a Tuono R have passed through our hands. The Falco I fitted a handle bar kit which in my opinion made it even better!

I guess i was just unlucky and I assume the quality control is better now. Aprilias are reliable because of their Rotax engines. Got a Tuono at the moment. Most comfortable bike I've ever ridden.

My wife reckons the 900ss was the most comfortable for a pillion. 916 was the best noise ever. As you say, a shame, but I'm glad I did it.

Didn't realise you were a biker u, sounds like you had a good ride out :)

Ive had many bikes over the Years but the Only Ducati I've owned I sold 12mths after purchase (2011) to contribute towards a deposit for another but to let :(

I was a bit wooden for the first thirty miles or so. I set it up for the Mrs on the back, felt a bit lazy tipping it in on my own but I soon got with it. Scrubbed the new front in and been to the edge of the rear both sides :-).

I was on my own because she is chubbing with me :-(.

Every cloud.....

I've never been bitten by the ducati bug. Seems they spend all their life on the drive or in the garage. I knew a guy who bought one I think literally just tonputbonbhis driveway. Washed it with mineral water...

As for the best sound , have you ever ridden a buell? My x1 was amaaazing, sounded like a thunderstorm. I do like the sound of a ducati through twin termi's but my next bike will be a 675 daytona, cbr or ninja I think though.

My Mrs loves riding (when she is not grumpy with me).

Here she is on my old falcon with bars and loud stumpies on.

how are your wrists holding out?

I found the sports position too much forward weight for pooteling about as there was insufficient wind lift.

Dirt diggers for me ...... loved 'em from a 10 YO and still do

know what you mean, I leant the comfy way myself too.

The more I read your posts underdog, the more I like you!

+1

Every now and then UD comes out with some thing that makes me think "blimey, I'd have never have thought that!"

I'm thinking of having a Monster as my daily ride, I can get a decent discount from work. Just need to give one a go. Sorry it's not a Ducati but my current ride sounds very nice indeed.
