I was going to ask dog or bitch but the clue was Drake , nice name and a very nice puppy , bit young to start water training though , although you are using him for fowling and he will be spending a fair bit of time in the water and who knows his first retrieve might be a fish .

Looking at your other thread about putting both dogs together , I keep mine apart during the night and they are together during the day , and up to now had no problems at all and they get really well together although I make sure they are separated at meal times .

Hi

Nice looking pup I'm sure he be just fine

I keep mine together all the time although I did get a cage for the youngest untill he was house trained

As for feeding I may be a bit odd but I only have one feed bowl and they wait and take turns

It works nor me 😊

Although I don't have a lab

All the best

Well this dog is all ready looking like he will be a bit of a character , he has now been in the pond again

He has also cost me £100 at the vets today , he has a golf ball sized lump on his shoulder, the vets think it could be a infected tick bite , hopefully its nothing more serious than that.

He has been taught to sit today so its a bit easier to get a decent picture now so here are a few more.

I like the comical look on Drakes face in the first photo , a sure sign hes enjoying himself .

Sorry to hear you had a costly trip to the vets yesterday and hope it heal up with no lasting problems .

I took mine to the vets yesterday as well for his second injections and a micro chip put in his back , I don't notice mine growing much as I am with him day after day , but 4 weeks ago when he had his first jab he went 6 1/2 kilo and now yesterday he weighed nearly 12 kilo , nearly double his weight in 4 weeks , and the early training ( walking on a lead , sit a and stay , house training ect. ) is coming on as well as can be expected .

He must be a similar age to mine then marsh man he has already had his second jab , training wise much the same also he has soon learned to sit and I have him walking quite well on the lead in the garden though its only for a minute or two at a time , house training will not be required as he will always live out , he is very good in the kennel as its all he has known.

He was weighed at the vets yesterday and was 13kg

Lovely looking dog Fenboy, I second what Marsh Man says, that first photo in your last post is great - he looks so happy. Best of luck with him,

Thanks

Good luck with him, looks a nice dog.

Thanks , he is already showing some promise , he seems very focused on me which is something I have always struggled with on my other dog , lets hope this one goes better , I certainly made some mistakes with the other which will not be repeated this time.

We all make mistakes fenboy, even the top trainers make mistakes while training , but the thing is we learn by the things going wrong with the previous dogs we have had ,

The old keeper who I used to train my dogs with used to say ( make haste slowly ) , meaning not to move on to the next level of training until you are happy with the level you are at , and not to set any time limit as it will take as long as it takes . Good luck and I am sure you will make a good job of it .

Hah Hah , the wife says he has whippet in him !

I was thinking more like greyhound!

I hope all goes well, he looks a nice enough chap. Funnily enough, one of my labs scaled the fence to next door's garden and then jumped back over with a big, fat fish. I don't think the neighbour ever realised one was missing.

Do you think I should post some pictures of my little terror?
