Harnser
I have not owned an air gun since I was a boy and now think that I need one for rats around the feeders . Most of the feeders I can shoot from the truck with my rim fire but some are to close to farm buildings to take the chance . I will definitely want a springer as I want something simple that does not want filling up and does not need any maintenance . Nothing expensive as it will live in the back of the truck . Calibre I am not sure of ,177 or .22 . Don't know what would be better ,bearing in mind that I may well want to shoot the odd rabbit or two with it . Would welcome some advice from you air gun hunters . Harnser
fenboy
A second hand HW 95 , 77 or 97 . or AirArms TX200 / Prosport Avoid newer BSA'S , Gammo Calibre is a personal choice some prefer 22 for rats but I say a 177 sized hole in the head kills them just the same , I prefer 177. Mr Mole will be along shortly to plug a 99p Hatsan to you.
psycho
A second hand HW 95 , 77 or 97 . or AirArms TX200 / Prosport Avoid newer BSA'S , Gammo Calibre is a personal choice some prefer 22 for rats but I say a 177 sized hole in the head kills them just the same , I prefer 177. Just what he said any HW personally I like the HW95K but all are very accurate and have wonderful triggers another to look at is the HW99S which is the cheapest of the bunch and as such is not fitted with a silencer, the one missing is the HW80 which is a very good rifle but can be heavy to carry about stear clear of modern webleys and also BSA lightning which are not the quality of the HW the AIR Arms TX200 and the pro sport are top drawer as they are fully tuned from new running on low friction piston systems As for cal as above a personnel choice the 177 has a flatter trajectory, you can use heavier pellets or flatheads for rats also a better range. pellets are better now a days very consistent the .177 pellets are cheaper than the .22. secretagentmole
hello, if you want cheap the hatsan 900X if you want decent a HW 95K Actually the Hatsan is quite decent, just a shame about the trigger. Beware of poor finishing on HW springs and components.
Paddy Galore!
Mr Mole will be along shortly to plug a 99p Hatsan to you. funnily enough I reckon one of them hatsans would do, especially if it's travelling in the back of a truck. weirauchs are serious money now. hoggysreels
Your budget will define whats realistic air rifle wise. <30 metres .22 probably best seeing as you mentioned rats and the odd bunny. New or Secondhand? ..

secretagentmole
Harnser get yourself down to Youngmans at Yarmouth if Norwich way or Hoopers if Lynn way and have a look at a 900, they sell them for £99! They do have open sights so no scope needed.
Marksman1997
I agree with the Mole! If its going to be lying in the back of a truck get yourself the Hatsan 900x. Cheap and Cheerful and not bad accuracy from what i hear plus it's lighter than air arms and weihrauch! If you are looking for the best get Weihrauch or AA. I have AA TX200HC which i love! Crazy Accurate but you will need to hit the Gym! Heavy Brute to carry around all Day!
