Give the man some credit considering none have Seen this dog, I'm sure all will be just fine. Agreed. My current trialling dog, an ESS, lay down on his first day picking up at around the same age and watched hundreds of partridge over his head with idle curiosity. He's done ok since ;-) Sure your dog will do very well once it knows what the game is, don't get complacent though. I would be prepared to bet he won't be sleeping in the hide for long.
