Grazy
Hi, I am treating myself to a new slip and am stuck with the choice. I have decided on the Croots Byland after reading a lot good reviews on here. However does anyone have any real life photos as I can't decide between oxblood or dark havana. STOTTO
I recently bought one of these and very nice it is too. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-Shooting-Essentials-New-dark-brown-leather-gun-slip-case-UP-TO-32-/151751619040?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item235519f1e0
grrclark
I just ordered an Oxblood Croots Byland slip yesterday, had a look between the two choices that you are thinking about and the Oxblood was definitely for me. It is a deep blood colour and not as much red as in some. It was an absolute stick on easy choice for me when I saw them both, but both are very nice and there isn't a bad choice. I would take a picture, but waiting on delivery as none of the longer slips for 32" barrels in stock.
sishyplops
Croots are lovely I have 3 of their slips two bylines and a Helmsley tweed one, mine are the older ones before the rebrand to Croots from Alistair Croots (AC) in 2010, I have one of the classic shooting essential cartridge bags and it is very nice as well
Grazy
Thanks all. My gut was saying oxblood as I thought the havana would just look black. I'll order tomorrow. Graham's of Inverness seems the cheapest online.

Grazy
Thanks. Just took a look but they only have the slip with the flap and buckle. Thanks for the heads up though
grrclark
Graham, is it the standard Byland with zip that you are going for? The price that I am getting is less than that advertised by Graham's of Inverness.

ehb102
Yes please that would be great. Much appreciated. Hopefully that is attached. The light is rubbish today and so is my phone camera. They are both lovely leathers. The oxblood isn't the bright burgendy of shoe polish, it's subdued and tasteful.

OJW
I love my Byland slip, however my gun fell over in it onto a gravel carpark and even though it was a small fall from an upright position onto its side the fine stones really marked the leather. When I stored it in a cupboard it bent on itself and this left a kink in it. I had to stuff it with socks for weeks to get it to return to it's proper shape. Bet you will end up buying the matching cartridge bag!
Grazy
Ha ha. You're right. Ordered it at the same time!
Boswell
Holy thread resurrection! Just ordered the Byland in Oxblood. I was thinking of getting it in Havana to match my Croots cartridge bag, but the photo above swayed me. The oxblood looks great. Who needs matching accoutrements anyway!! This thread helped the decision. Thanks boys.
