Called for another chicken killer.

Got on scene after work and snook into position, the rabbits were out so I knew the fox was not on the scene first.

Got in the range with the chucks and was only there for half an hour and the rabbits were sitting up and on guard and in the favourite spot!

Bursting to relieve myself I was caught out! Finished relieving myself while having a fox on the edge of nettles just 70yds away is annoying!

Fortunately the chickens were not all over the range otherwise he may of done a bombing run before I was ready.

The shot was in the front to which he responded just as a lot of heart shot bucks can react and when he finished his prancing death run and stopped a mere 30yds away a finisher was deployed.

When I placed him there I noticed the cases so placed them yes and the feathers for the photo, there is feather everywhere from the kills!

They need to sort the fence!

A muzzle break on a wmr?

More of a muzzle weight for my needs re' off hand aiming!

Yes around 8.30/8.45 he has two places around 3mtrs apart where he shows himself for a shot.

He's a big un too, I'll have him by the weekend, my missus think I'm nuts studying Fox movements lol :)

It certainly is frustrating when they place themselves in full view but with no backstop.

We had one which used to sit perfectly placed on the skyline as we viewed it from a lower field, and it would do this consistently. We decided on another night to approach it from the other side to see if that offered a better option, knowing we possibly wouldn't be able to get high enough, and sure enough there it was again, tootling along the fence line. It stopped to the call but it was no better; about 150 yards behind and below it was the wood across the river, fabulous backstop but it has a public footpath running through it and plenty of dog walkers use it. So off it went on its merry way. We never did get that particular fox.

That's the trick though, be where they want to be. I've ambushed dozens of foxes that way, just waiting for them to walk up to where I'm waiting for them.

Wife thinks I'm mad too, going out studying the routes that the foxes use, so that I can get them in close - but it's vital, especially in areas with poor (or no!) backstops, and where the foxes are lamp-shy.
