I don't buy the magazine, it was a freebie form the CLA ( 'owt fer nowt' as they say around here ) but was reading an article he'd penned regarding the LAG debacle and a point he made about raptors and lead shot.

Apparently the UK has a Predatory Bird Monitoring Scheme which concerns scavenging raptors and that specific species have specific lead thresholds. So far those lead thresholds in UK raptors haven't been passed, and as a matter of course I leave as little as possible for scavengers simply because I don't want to make it easy for badgers, foxes and buzzards to breed, but it had never occurred to me that an even better reason is to ensure that whatever predates on whatever I leave isn't poisoned by lead and possibly raising those thresholds.

Maybe it's time we went to greater lengths to prevent raptors getting access to that which we leave behind such as foxes, corvids and rabbit paunch?
