i own a long wheel based transit jumbo camper van conversion and i want to clean and repaint the underneath of it.

does anyone know of any where that has a four post vehicle lift for hire or self use or a farm or industrial area that has an old fashioned service pit in the ground or a pair or tank ramps above ground. I am hoping that someone knows someone which can get me an introduction or owns one them selves

I am in the midlands but i am willing to travel to them . if a great distence i would like to stay in the camper van conversion on site over the weekend.

I have all my own tools and equipment and will not need any extras

I am willing to pay cash for either a finders fee and sucessfull introduction and or an hourly rate for there hire or a fixed day rate

I will be looking at two long weekends from saturday morning through to sunday afternoon to get it all cleaned up and repainted properly

if anyone knows of a farmer or an old army base or RAF base that has above ground ramps or a service pit, i can pump any amount of waater out of it first and can reinstate the boards afterwards if required or an abandond site or yard or even a new place that i can rent for a weekend

I am also thinking old service bays to an industrial unit or mechcanics yard or building, any where really is considered. does not matter if the site is a demolished area or not

i am also looking for a flat level piece of concrete where i can jack the van up and use axel stands to do the work underneath

as i live in a terreced house i have no where i can do this work so any help please in finding a spot to do so

for more info and details please pm me, peter

There is / was a company that i cant remember the name of or where they were based (not being much help really am I) that did under body cleaning and re sealing if they are still about you get it cleaned , do the work and then go back and get it all under sealed

They use to advertise in the 4x4 mags

What about a self-service garage like Motorhoist? They'd rent out a bay/lift etc on an hourly rate.

there are two in the midlands that i know of and have used over the years the main and first one is in bristol and theres others in other cities.

the downsides for me with this van are

its size because its a jumbo you cant lift them safely on a two post lift, it has to be a four post lift, the only place where i couold use one does not have the room for the van, hieght and or length wise so i cant use them

many others dont mind you you doing the work but wont allow grinding or cleaning or painting due to cover every one else is dust and muck and making a mess any where. i did explain that i could poly wrap every thing but they were not interested, hay ho thats life

if you look on ebay you will find the bristol lot and you will also find the others on the internets

i did conside briefly about getting someone else to do the work

but

costs are the biggest killer i cant afford to pay someone for works i can do my self once i get some where to do it and quality, where i leave all the mechcanics are either asian and there fore cheap and nasty or cheap and dishonest about exactly what they hace done, i think i have more chances coming back with a all the rust untreated and covered in a thin layer or underseal to hid it and the floor an ill drop out next year

so i would rather do it my self, i just need to find a service pit or tank ramps or a flat piece of concrete to do it on

Where about a in the Midlands are you?

i am at west brom , but i am willing to travel to the ramp or pit

the general idea was within a 50mile radius, drive there in the morning work the day and come home, after 50 miles away drive over on friday and stay there the weekend to work on the van

money wise, i was thinking of a bottle for a finders fee and say £60 to use the ramp or pit for the day,

i can cover every thing in dust sheets and poly wrap to keep that area clean and tidy and can make sure the area is spotless when i leave, if you buy the underseal i can do your vehicle at the same time as mine as a sweetener as well if wanted

Don't want any finders fee!

As I can't promise any thing!

And I have know idea on costs!!

Give these a call! They have a outside ramp they use to clean trucks! They might rent out to you and if not a load of space!!

Ask for Paul Anderson and explain to him what you need you never know
