Squinting shot Posted August 5, 2015 Report Share Posted August 5, 2015 Hello all I have an old crosman 2200 magnum in .22 calibre its in mint condition as it's been in a cabin ate most of its life. I have been asked to clear some pigeons off but can only use air rifles so I went round and noticed that the rifle didn't seem to be as powerful as it used to be I got 8 pigeons but had to be around 15-20ft to get a good kill. Underdog Posted August 5, 2015 Report Share Posted August 5, 2015 Usually the valve seats and seals can be re-cut with toothpaste. Done it several times. The pump head hardley fails. Underdog Posted August 12, 2015 Report Share Posted August 12, 2015 760 is basically a carbine version of the 1377 pistol. A little more can be got out of them and as far as I understood the american versions don't have more power. They may have a larger transfer port fitted. They don't have blow off valves fitted. The model one and 2200 magnum did have blow offs fitted. I seem to remember the 2100 not having a blow off valve. They were a 177 model between the 760 and the 2200. I've only seen one and that was owned by a friend of my parents. It was on his fac supposedly shooting at 20ftp . No you will be correct I didn't take the valve out I was thinking it would be like the Canadian version where the blow off valve is under the main valve and you can see it when the side cover is removed. Crosman also restricted out put by tiny transfer ports and lengthening intake valve length to lessen volume . Peak pressure is reached sooner but with little volume of air, the pump is equalised and becomes useless. Actually a lot can be done to the valves to make for quite an efficient pumper. Squinting shot Posted August 14, 2015 Author Report Share Posted August 14, 2015 Very good I wonder if it's possible to get hold of an American valve. Chambers do the valve for £18. Do like the air rifle easy to shoot steady to aim as it weighs nothing. Might try some different pellets see if it improves knock down power for better kills. Thanks for all the information UNDERDOG.
