This is just my POV.....have your decoy pattern as normal......then put a max' of 3 crow decoys 20 or so yds away from the pattern................this is a subject that often comes up and attracts a lot of poh...poeing.....and vective........................but it does have a few followers who are convinced it works............

If I'm out after pigeon and there is a crow or two about I might put a couple of crow decoys out but as said above about 20 or so yards away off to one side. If you get a crow try putting it on its back this can often get other crows flying around it, but if the pigeon are decoying well I don't bother putting out crow decorys.

If I'm after crows I some times put out a mini pattern of pigeons up to 40 or 50 yards out pointing at my hide this can do two things 1 if any pigeons drop in to the pattern they will make the field look safe from above and make the crows less weary and 2 if any pigeons over fly the pattern they come straight over your head.

Look at nature. Often you see crows in proximity to pigeons. I've 6 crow FUD's. Having established my pigeon pattern I put three crows on either side aboot 5 yds away. They don't scare the pigeons and can pull in the crows when they're about.

Yep, corvids are in far greater numbers than pigeon here in Northern Ireland (and tends to be so on the north west coast of Scotland and England also)

When putting decoys on freshly sewn or stubble, I will use both, setting out the pigeon decoys first (about 20-30) and then the corvid decoys around those, leaving a "landing zone" for the pigeon, and use about 30-40 then.

That brings in both in large numbers generally.

However, on standing crops, I tend to only use corvid decoys here (in the east of the UK or South, I would use pigeon) as space is limited, as I don't want to damage the crow tramping about. So standing crops, about 6-8 decoys on sticks to extend above the crop, then two flappers, a rotary magnet, and later 3-4 bouncers. That works well too

You could contact BASC - they've two new instructors who are 'experts in the field'

I put both out and attract both, tho its the black stuff in greater numbers here.

I was out last Friday, put two horse shoe pigeon groups out, 6 in each pattern and put 3 crows in each pattern to the side of them and both crows and pigeons came in nicely.....
