jungle basher??

Recommended Posts

got quite a large area of rough uneven scrub, bushes, gorse, weeds, thistles etc...was after what we used to call a jungle basher; no one seems to know what this is....does anyone on here know what one is or if they are still available, it attaches to small tractor and is pto driven....had two spinners with chains on, destroyed everything....dead easy if chain broke just replace, no blades etc...the one I saw was ancient and that was about 20 years ago..... atb....misser

Defo what I knew as a chain swipe 20 years ago, when I was re-establishing a former shoot - ran it on the PTO off an old ford tractor.

Certainly not much could resist it, remember backing it up to small ( 3") trees and they gave up without much fight - ah the days before elf and safety!

Certainly the big brother of the Billy Goat and other flail mowers

  • 4 weeks later...

hired in a large mulcher last year it eat gorse like it wasn't there and could even handle small trees

left the ground in almost perfect conditions for growing a lawn or even game crop

downside was it wasn't cheap, especially when the driver went into an area I told him to avoid and he got a steel stake through his tyre

changing a tyre on a large tractor and mulcher in the middle of the wood is not much fun

we have a couple of swipes here that are adequate for cutting rhodis and gorse. one of them has chains and the other one has blades which are good for cutting grass and weeds but it can handle heavier stuff as well-if your careful.
