My rape field has been harvested...then 6 days later the stubble was slashed........thats when my shooting started nicely as the fallen seed had started to germinate........................then the field was deep tyne cultivated.........and mustard seed broadcast on it and harrowed in....this will be ploughed in when it is at its most "pulpy"...not sure when.....

...this is the first time around here that this practice is being resurrected.............the farmer has also thought of using lupins as a improver like they used to many years ago..........it will be interesting to see if the pigeons go for it at the end of the year when there is not so much to go for, i will report back on how the situation developes....

..............are any of you expecting to shoot over soil improvers this season...and what are they using

i have since heard it is a part of an EU directive...that the landowner must plant a certain % relitive to the acreage of his land holding every year at his own cost !!!......

.......so it must be happening where you are as well !!
