Help me out please, I have just got a ticket for 35 in a 30 zone with a suggestion I may be eligible for a speed awareness course, for which there is a charge.

Anyone got any idea how much the course costs, there is no mention of it on my paperwork.

Cheers

About £90 iirc. Certainly was not more, ....Worth doing, as it avoids a conviction, 3 points and fine plus the inevitable hike in your insurance premium if you get the 3 points.

I go done last year, same offence as you, I seem to remember the fine is about the same as the course.

Snap I got clocked 2 weekends ago by a lemon with a hair dryer. Down here in the sunny SWest the course is £85. I am going to book mine soon. Saving of £15 is not much but still a saving and you dont need to take the points.

Very good

Seriously though, I nearly bought a dash cam (to combat vandals, cash for crash drivers and foreign ladies not paying attention in the outside lane whilst doing 42 mph) but then I was worried about the speed and other telemetry data that might be available in the event of a tug from plod. Now that wouldn't be too clever.

You absolutely do NOT have to tell your insurance company and if they ask, use another. There are apparently only 2 major companies that ask at the moment. The question is "have you ever been convicted?" and the honest answer is no.

Thanks for that!

Problem with taking the points is that a speeding conviction has to be declared to your FEO/licencing team as they may take the view that it's an indicator of "responsibility" or lack of it if too many speeding points are racked up, and this could potentially affect FAC renewal. I'd take the course, pay the money and eat humble pie, expecting to be patronised (indeed disappointing if I wasn't if ever on one of these courses!).

I thought you didnt have to declare a fixed penalty notice, only if it went to court?

Get the ones I have. £20.00 off ebay, just takes a mini SD card. No speed or other data, just date and film :) if they crash that's all you need, stops YOU getting in the ****, and maybe get you out of some ****

I have one fitted front AND rear (after a woman reversed across the road onto my side of the road into me, then she drive back across the road, parked and claimed I had reversed into her. Took a court case before she finally admitted it)
