there is a rape stubble the otherside of our land we can,t shoot on, rights been bought on it there has been pigeons going on it this last week or so kept seeing them heading over the motorway to it as we are either going or coming home from shooting, never seen anyone shooting on it, theres a small wood that's borders the stubble and if you catch the wind right they head upwind to it so this afternoon I had a look and sure enough birds flighting in to the rape stubble from different directions some pulling up to the wood, so I decided to give it a go, now I have done this on a few occasions set the rotary right on the edge of the wood in a clearing away from the trees but its laced with ferns and had some decent results pulling birds away from the field towards and over me, and yet again it worked today only had a shortish session of 3 hrs or so between 2.30pm and 5,30pm but in that time the heavens opened up 4 times and just wearing summer gear I got totally soaked with the rain and walking through thick cover that was obviously wet the birds kept flighting even in the heavier rain that's the reason I stayed put otherwise I would of just packed up

I shot 62 birds picked 53 couldn't help lose a few were I was shooting but picked 90% of them
