Well got in the vitara to come home from work turned key and let go before engine started , tried it again and nothing just click , thought battery had gone lad pushed me to bump it of got home switched engine of and click , changed the battery and put jump pack on it as well but click

Hoping its just the starter motor ant thoughts please

had this before and it turned out to be a bad earth strap to the engine good enough to supply power for everything but not enough for the starter also could be the solenoid internal contacts spark eroding both will give you the a heavy contact noise

if decent battery also check separate contact on the live terminal that supplies the dash and relays to fire everything up hope this helps

Years ago part of service involved checking the amps drawn by a starter to ward off impending failure!

 

Do jump of a known good batt, many a batt loses capacity when asked for high amps but will show 12v+!

Next.

Connect a jump lead earth polarity between batt and engine direct to eliminate heavy earth lead issue. If no change remove and clean. If a sealed unit replace.
