Spent the afternoon on Peg 5 using a 6m telescopic pole with sweetcorn and bacon grill as bait.

Finished with 7lb 05oz Mirror Carp, another at 7lb. Plus 6 Roach and a 1lb Skimmer (juvenile Bream).

Also lost a further 2 carp.

Day tickets on the bank £8 for 1 rod / £10 for 2. All nets must be dipped; barbless hooks only; limits on loosefeed

Two trout fishermen were having a cup of tea with John the owner when I arrived.

One had caught two and the other had caught one and lost one.

An imitation fry had done the business for the first angler.

By last Tuesday we had managed to clear the lake of all the floating weed/algae.

The first time it had been clear for months. It continued to be clear on Thursday.

Even with the weed fish were being caught but at times it was frustrating having to clean the fly/hook.

The trout tickets are £15 for a half day, one fish limit then catch and release. A full day 2 fish limit ticket is £21. There is also an after work evening ticket for £8 which is just catch and release. The ticket includes the River Ver which contains Brown trout up to 3lb. All Browns from the lake and river are catch and release.

There is very little trout fishing in and around Herts, so hope to see you sometime.

Martin
