New shape 06 onwards is generally far better on fuel and comfort. I have a 56 shape warrior and really like it. Yes the hg went but a few hundred quid sorted it out. Mine has a centre diff lock which has come in handy when offroad. A decent set of tyres helps. Put some 18" General grabber at's on mine. Ok in most conditions apart from sticky mud. Absolutely brilliant offroad as you can throw muddy dogs, dead stuff etc in the tub and have the front comfortable and clean ish whilst going up/downhill in 4wd with ease.

Can't say as I bother too hard looking at fuel useage as it's not a Toyota prius at the end of the day. It's a 2 tonne truck. Had mine remapped when we got it and that made a huge difference to it. I'd be looking at Warrior level upwards. The animal has more grunt I believe. Elec windows, heated mirrors, rear window, lockable centre diff, etc. Some decent bargains to be had now the new shape has come out too.

Downsides, Door cards are hard plastics, no spare slots for extra switches unless you drill dash, seats are a bit flat in the front so supports not the best if honest, standard radio is dire. Worth upgrading to a nice bluetooth one.

I've got a 06 l200 auto, its not got the rally art power boost as the warrior has bot its not bad get between 26 and 33 to the gallon (manuals should get better) I was planning to get it remapped but havent got round to it yet. If you go for the higher spec models you get the supper select transfer box (2wd high, 4wd high with open center diff (you can drive on the road all day without screwing the transmission, great in the snow or for towing in the wet ) 4wd high locked center diff and 4wh low) and locking or limited slip rear diff and traction control

I need a truck for shooting mainly, but I do 35 miles to work and back a day as well.

what would you guys recommend?

got around £8500 to spend!

any of you own them?

what are their problems?

what do I have to look for?

thanks

You dont mention fuel use as being relevant and your in flat country anyhow. Suppose any that looks honest and straight could be a good buy no need to be too model specific IMO just find the right individual.

I use mine daily for that length commute no problems at all, go 2006 onwards and you will get 32-34 mpg on the commute. That budget will buy a reasonable example

So far in 25k miles I have cracked a rear Spring but I do tow a fairly weighty caravan and carry the odd reasonable load. The cam belts are due at 60k but that's standard maintenance stuff. Otherwise no problems
