Lack of Birds

From the Humber to Rutland Water via A15,A46 and A1,Wed a.m

.Barely a dozen pigeons seen, plenty of road kill,-strangely mainly cock pheasants, one fox and a badger-unusual lack of kestrels along' motorways',odd buzzards and corvids but mountains of roadside rubbish, seems no-one picksit up anymore

.Return journey this a.m. in moderate fog, again no pigeons anywhere, noted some corn still to come in,drilling going on apace. 160 plus miles, less than a score of pigeons. Are they nearing extinction in Lincs,Notts and Rutland or was I just unlucky ?

Lived in Notts for 24 years, and never used to see pigeons like I do in here in Suffolk, or in Leicestershire where my wife is from. Whether it's farming, woodland or what I don't know. But shot 5 days this harvest, and had 3 100+, and will hopefully get decent bags on rape later on. But used to be Happy with 30/40s at home.
