the day started with me bagging up two freezers full of pigeons loading them into the car then a 80 mile round trip to game dealers and back I was back home for 1pm quick bite to eat then out again looking for pigeons I tried my local farm only 10 mins away first, 3 fields on this one one was standing barley another barley stubble and the last barley drilling very unusual combination anyhow the farmer was just finishing the stubble field whilst I sat and watched a few birds flighting about all over the place no set line or field, the farmer had finished the field off and was about to start the standing field he came over to me waved me over to him and said the birds had been on the drilling the day before from 3pm onwards, its always a late farm this it can kick off big time late afternoon a few birds starting to show interest in the drilling so picked my spot and set up was in place by 2.30pm , hard work to start with until I got the rotary going then they showed more interest in the decoys and added dead birds as I went the shooting was steady the old fella joined me about 3.45pm I had about 20 down by then we kept shooting till 5.45pm lost about 8 birds in the wood behind us so about 95 birds down but picked 86 woodies and 1 jackdaw
