Bristol Post Sept 14

AVON and Somerset police failed to answer almost 70,000 calls to their non-emergency number quickly enough, it has been revealed.

A Freedom of Information request by the BBC shows that only 70 per cent of calls to the 101 non-emergency number between April and July this year were answered within one minute, when the force should be hitting a target of 85 per cent or more.

One call, recorded in April, was not answered by the force for 49 minutes and seven seconds.
