Little vixen 271yds

Well must say had an extremely good night tonight, went out to a nearby farm after a fox that I spooked on Sunday after retrieving one i had just shot, and my mate (I do have one) spotted 2 things in a field with the thermal. He asked if there were sheep in the field, shouldn't be I replied, so I took the thermal off him and had a peep, strange, there shouldn't be any in here, maybe they have got through the fence.

Any way it turns out that those shep were actually 2 Roe Deer, a Doe and Buck, I was well chuffed, 1st time I'd seen tbem on this patch. Thing's are looking up, just a pity they're not Fallow ;-)

While we both kept swapping from thermal to NV to watch the Deer I noticed something dash in front of them with the nv, my mate also caught with the thermal spotter, "it's a fox" he confirmed, he called it for a bit and it showed a little interest, but seemed to be making a beeline for the hedge, it stopped about 30yds before the hedge just long enough to get on it. May or may not have been ghe one I spooked but its another one to the tally all the same.

Nice one mate, a fine shot indeed.

Just out of interest have you heard of Sleep?

lol yes,

I've not long come out of it. 10.10 Wee wash and toast and tea. Lol

My shifts are ridiculous, start at 11 am till 20.00 4 on 3 off so all weekends working, but at least I can go out shooting every night ;-). Better than 12hr nights 4 on 4 off,

Fair play mate. At least the darker nights allow you to get out at a more sensible hour. Also on a nosey note how much ground do you shoot over?

Here is the clip from the thermal, as expected the quality does drop a little,You can see the 2 Deer at the start of the clip to the right. But bear in mind that for most of the time that the Fox was moving to the left I had no idea were it was as it was obscured by the high grass in the headland. My mate with the thermal was letting me know were it was heading, but as i say although I was using Nv I kept losing it, hence me asking "were was it"

Indecently after the shot the Deer were still there, they hadn't budged

Dam just watched it and its a tad shorter than i expected. I may swap the clip later to a longer one, we stopped there for a while watching the Deer thats why I shortened the clip.

swapped

That bit of ground was just over 271 yards that I shot over

Not as much as you would expect i suppose, total with 6 perms maybe 2500 acres, but its not all doable in a night, one is 12 mile away, a few are neighboring farms, which reminds me I have a new one to visit this week  picked up in the local over a pint :lol:

I asked for that first one..very witty

Looks like you have some good fox densities on that ground. Keep up the good work bud and good luck with the new permission.
