I never had a ferret finder at the start wrong time to buy one now. It just means a bit of waiting for them to surface. I only work hobs (males) as they are easy going and a lot lazier. Kills will happen no matter what sex you use if u need any help pm me. I worked out from my game diary I have ferreted over 2500 rabbits in past 9 year lol

A ferret finders not a must you can get a ferret a few nets and get out there but as said be prepared to wait around a lot . the sex of the ferret you work is down to personal preference jills can come and go with out upsetting the nets but they also can learn the knack of killing rabbits quickly and easily . I just work ten jills then I got two hobs for working one new sandy permission the jills where getting pulled along the tubes when thy latched on to a rabbit and you started digging to them with the bigger hobs its usually one hole one rabbit . Start saving your money and you will get locators on ebay cheaper during the summer even if you just buy a box with one collar and swap it over to which ferret your working

for me a locater is a must now we don't have proper winters and the mild weather is pretty much here all year round. it makes the ferreting season very short as there are young about as early as late january here. some places they are breeding all year round. so this will at some point put your ferret in contact with a nest and a lie up. the amount of time i have to dig to stop ends is becoming more regular. some of my ferrets will stick with rabbits and some will leave them after a while.

i work long hedgerows with long nets either side and about half a dozen ferrets in at a time. large sheds where i need the ferrets to bolt the rabbits out otherwise we are in for a awkward dig. warrens in woods through tree stumps. golf course with sand.easy little warrens on hill sides and paddocks. not one of these scenarios i would be happy putting my ferret in without a collar on. times have evolved even the great old sport of ferreting which to me is the best fieldsport of them all. we owe it to our ferrets to bring them home at the end of a hard day.

I worked ferrets for 3 year without collars on first time I put chesney my best ferret the world has ever seen down a hole with the mk3 on I lost him for 7 month a water drainage under ground river. Just don't go spreading ferrets round your local fields wait for them. On another note my wife of 6 years I met on way to get a ferret
