Air Arms s410 Air Gauge seal

hi guys just need a bit of help with regards the s410 air gauge seal,

ok,,,, I,ve given the rifle a full strip down but whilst doing so I decided not to change / disturb the air gauge, I rebuilt the rifle and Ithe reason for changing the seals was because the rifle had a leak, this was to be expected because it has been locked up in a cabinet for over 3 years,

also the reason I didn,t really want to change the air gauge seal was because the allen key stud that holds it in place was a bit worn looking, I know I should of changed the seals but was really looking for a quick fix, HOW WRONG WAS I ,,, I wont do that again.

I rebuilt the rifle, re filled with air and 24 hours later its leaked the air out, so the only thing it could have been was the gauge seals and I was right,

now for the problem, the allen key bolt C1104L would not accept an allen key due to being worn, I decided to drill the stud and remove the full air gauge unit, this I have done but the gauge had a small rubber seal at the bottom of the thread, now looking at the parts list this according to the parts schematic should have a dowty seal on it but the one I have taken off only has a rubber seal, the alloy block BK154 has two small seals OR069/OR057 they looked a bit worn also, but the problem I have is the alloy block that the gauge screws into has a small recess for the seal to go into so it doesn,t look like it should have a dowty seal OR004,

was the dowty seal fitted on the newer model s410 because if I fit one it looks like it would not seal due to the gauge block BK154 being recessed and too small a recess to accept a dowty seal,

I,m confussed

here are a couple of pics of what I,m talking about and I,ll also have to get a new bolt C1104L which is no problem as I have an engineering company local to me

cheers Goodshot, I,ll just replace the oring, its just that on the schematic diagram of the s410 it shows a dowty seal, I think the only explanation is its an older gun and the schematic although for an s410 must be for the newer version

well chaps, I replaced the seals on the air gauge, also went the engineers and bought a new stud exactly the same as the air arms one for 30p put it all back together and low and behold the rifle has kept the air in it and has not budged, filled it to 180 bar and it has not dropped at all so happy days, now to order a new scope for it and get out on the rats

It really is worthwhile going to take a look at the AIR ARMS OWNERS FORUM ....... there you will find all sorts of answers to many questions , some you have not even thought of

the administrator of the site is a dealer/supplier of all things air arms ,,even full seal kits or 1 offs

His contact details can be found there ,,, look for BGALDT or look in the technical section

cheers Harry, yes mate I,ve been on the other forum and I,m a member but I do think the knowledge database in the pigeonwatch masses is of a lot higher standard lol,

I,m all sorted now, I,ve also just replaced the whole filler valve to a daystate type one as I thought the s410 original one was too large and this is what was causing the moderator to get scratched, cost me £46 from best fittings but well worth it as the fitting on my bottle now fits all my rifles, well except for the hw100kt which I have an adapter for

the rifle has been filled two days now and has not lost any air at all so very happy, just looking for a walnut stock for it now, they are like rocking horse poop
