Or do we poor schmucks only get the sub 12fpe jobbies that have to be tweaked and tuned etc? I'm well aware of tuning options available, just wondered if the rifle ever appears on these shores as the real deal, as the manufacturer intended. Just interested to find out. I've emailed Hull to find out.......you never know, they might call back and say that I could have one for 200 squid cuz it's got a tiny chip in the stock and a piddly little scratch on the barrel. Other than that it's brand spanking new and is pumping out about 22fpe. And we'll RFD it at no extra cost, and throw in some pellets that we found work the best in this rifle. No real need if you're really after one as there'll be quite a few properly tuned ones for sale. Back in the late 80's quite a few were a bit over the limit and had to have a few coils removed. An uncut Titan XS would give you over 12 ft-lbs and be more available. Blackpool Air Rifles do full power tune kits I seem to remember. Don't fit an Ox spring, as it's square section can cause damage. Even if you bought a new HW80, it would benefit from a strip, clean and regrease. Polishing the piston, the spring ends and fitting a sleeve guide takes a couple of hours and costs peanuts (half a dozen bits of wet and dry and some autosol, plus some 3 in 1 and some CV grease) to really improve smoothness, lock-time and consistency. I resurrected a butchered Meteor last weekend. Couple of hours with meths, 180 to 1000 grade wet and dry, some 3 in 1, a pea sized amount of CV grease, plus cylinder hone and a service kit got the old girl shooting lovely. The next old springer I do up, I will do a before and after vid, although there are dozens on Youtube to look at. It is really very easy. If you can tie your own laces you can tune a springer, people just like to make it sound complicated! The seals were all shot, the trigger spring was in back to front, it had about 1/4 lb of grease around a way over powerful spring with sharp ends... Smoke-if 3in1 got anywhere near the piston/cylinder The 3 in 1 is used with the wet and dry for polishing. It is all removed with the meths. old man Posted November 21, 2015 Report Share Posted November 21, 2015 You certainly don't want a HC spring, I ordered a FAC rated one from them a while ago, it had IMHO been cut off a longer length with an angle grinder and had edges you would wish on your knife? Also it went 13 1/2 ftlb over the chrono, the phone conversation went "well it's over 12 so FAC isn't it?" I still have a HW80 which I Iove,and would never sell, also sold one to a mate ...... both early models however I have just bought a Walther Century .... bloody Hell what a Rifle definitely on a par with the 80s. if not better. Not sure of the max magnification and not sure about silencers. A ruling was made by the Greek courts allowing scopes, a copy in Greek can be got in Greece probably from a FT club. Most of their plods don't have a clue. If you spend time in Greece try Crete, no one gives a stuff what you have, half the island and their sisters are armed with something. The full power ones did come in in vast numbers through the 80s when we were early days pcp They are cheap to buy now via RFD or private as far less buyers than sellers be choosy Imo a moderate fac 80 is a very practical buy for killing pests without a big budget I should be looking to pay not greater than 150 for a nice one Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
