In my expirence you push the centre pole well in the ground , then tilt it so it is at ninety degrees, secure the centre cord to a good anchor then the side ribs hook on hide poles that have been well secured. With the shape of the brolly you will get deflection in very high winds but it will keep you dry

I use a 60"fishing brolly on the beach but i have sewn into the bottom two sides a skirt overlapping about 2 feet and once dug in to the shingle you cover the skirt with rocks and sand ,its can stand gale force winds and never moves and very often Ive had tents and other brollies getting blow past in the strong winds.

I use this in the hide but fitted eyelets to the skirt so can hammer in ground spikes.
