Anyone go to any ?

Am in London for the weekend with family so my brother and I went for a look as we've never even been in one.

Didn't have a clue what we were doing, were like two virgins in a cathouse lol (play a few online so know the games atleast)

We stuck a few ££ together giving us £75 just for a laugh, I hit the roulette table and once I hit £295 we got our simple ***** out of there. Was a nice little laugh though.

Wondering if anyone ever has a dabble and what's your favourite ?

PS yes I know, in the end the casino always wins!

Not a big gambler apart from a day at Royal Ascot every year. But around Christmas every year, myself and work colleagues get down to mossimans, have a fantastic meal and plenty of booze, then straight down to Park Tower casino to finish the night off.

Don't know why I bother really as I always come out regretting it, but it seems a good laugh at the time!

I love a punt but always stick by don't gamble what you can't afford to lose (and am prepared to lose).

My first ever trip to vegas 20+ years ago taught me a valuable lesson in gambling and roulette - I rocked up at a table and the display screen showed that the last however many spins had all spun black. So then, it's got to be a red coming up I think (obviously it's not though because each spin is independent and it's 18/38 probability on each spin coming up red or black). Well, I throw down $20. Comes in black. I double down chasing the red and throw down $40. Then $80, then $160 then $320 then.... Well who knew you could have so many consecutive spins with a black coming up each time  Also when you double down each time it's also amazing quite how fast you go through all of your money. The silver lining was I got the free restaurant tickets, free tickets to a show, tickets to jump queues and the room comp'd. Saying that, we just got drunk and gambled and so didn't even bother going to any of the free shows / events.

Last week we took clients out and ended up at the Stratford Casino (Aspergers) and for the first time ever I set foot in a casino and didn't gamble. Just couldn't be bothered. Maybe I'm getting old. The people we were with walked out £5k odd up, but hey, we all know that the Casino always wins in the long run.

My sister blew approx 3/4 of my brother in law's inheritance in a casino in Leeds. This was hundreds of thousands back in the 1980s. Split the family for years.

Always pretended she was winning...

Never been in one. I do the lottery if i remember.

The ex and I were on a cruise and as per there was a huge casino on board. After dinner she fancied a flutter on blackjack. It was early doors and the casino was a cut through to the main restaurant ( clever ploy?). We were the only ones at that table.

she laid a $10 bet and a side bet on her getting 21. First hand - bang she gets 21. Side bet meant spinning a wheel with flashing lights above the table ( multiples of side bet from x10 to x100). Won $200. Next hand did the same bets, me muttering no chance. Gets 21 again and the side bet winning means some silly claxon noise to attract attention. Third hand and people were stopping and taking seats. Blow me she gets 21 again and this time there's flashing lights, bells etc. Next hand the house won and she wisely walked away but the money others were laying was crazy. Paid for all our booze that cruise.

Get a lot of punters in the cab on way to or from casinos.

Most agree that the way to do it is to take an amount you're happy to lose, which won't affect your life, and only that, keep cards in pocket. Enjoy your night, but once that money is gone, so are you.

On the one hand, you're spending time in a safe, convivial environment, with food and drink on offer, little chance of violence, little temptation to put your relationship in jeopardy or shove £50 notes up your nose.

On the other, I've often picked up blokes who were on the way home to tell their missus that the mortgage money is gone, and they probably started on that slippery slope telling themselves they wouldn't get into trouble.

i have been to Vegas a few times over the years but only sat down to gamble once, i started with $20 and after a bit of being up and down i had $25 so cashed in, technically i walked away a winner in Vegas :)

watching some of the people at the tables you could see how they were totally hooked

Never played casino games, but when I was in London sometimes the Empire in Leicester Sq would run a poker tournament, a couple of friends and I would go, and we did rather well. I have been a few others times, but not to gamble... here's my top tip (based on this one casino- but I imagine it applies elsewhere) - the restaurants in casinos are actually worth visiting. Great food and good prices, I think it is because they don't want their customers to leave.

Been to Vegas a few times, and Casino's in the UK. I only play Blackjack, as the odds are slightly in your favour when the first cards come out of a fresh shoe. As long as you roughy follow the guidelines (available on a card for a couple of $ in the gift shop) you wont go far wrong, but it is a gamble at the end of the day. One tip would be always play on a busy table , never on your own or with one other. A full table means the hands take longer, you can keep your money longer and you can see more of the cards coming out of the show before you decide what you are going to do.

As others have said, really. If you can't afford to laugh off the money you're putting on the table, then you shouldn't be doing it.

I've been to casinos a few times. Won a bit, lost a bit. Over time I'm almost certainly down, but it's a bit of fun to me, nothing more.

Not entirely true, at least as far as I`m aware. Play a perfect strategy and you can reduce the house`s edge to less than 1%. To gain an advantage you`d have to be counting the deck and even then you only gain a fairly small edge. Even the card counting teams sometimes take huge losses and that`s with a favourable deck.

Yep, spot on.

Only ever played poker in casinos. I have watched mates win and lose at Blackjack and Roulette for fun and it's never really interested me (amusing though at times!).

Poker is a skill game; there is of course some luck at play, however, any true player will know that so long as you're playing hands properly (ie basing decisions on probability and table position) you might lose shoving it all in with Aces against Kings but you play the same hand the same way a thousand times and you'll be profitable.

The best bit of poker is that it's very sociable and the casino is never playing/beating you as such, their rake from each hand covers the free drinks!
