Hi

Recently picked up a Forester Turbo. The 16" alloys have an offset of 48. I picked up a set of Japan STI alloys today that have an offset of 53. Question is does that mean I need some 5mm spacer? Sorry if this is a dumb question but it is one area that totally loses me everytime.

I'm not 100% but they will stick out if you will 5mm more than others. So no need for spacers. Only way to find out is put a tyre on the rim and try on the front and back for clearance. Some good info on the net regarding offsets and tyre width, try Google, you may also find images of said rims an vehicle.

The 53mm offset means they will stick out 5mm further I use to run a wheel with a 35mm offset on my forester (23mm further out) with no problems. The only problem you will encounter is if the sti wheel you have bought is off an 05 or later car as the stud pattern will be wrong (5x114.3 instead of 5x100)
