Have just renewed my CPSA and have gone for full as opposed to clubman with the intention of doing registered shoots to gain a classification. eon Posted February 1, 2016 Author Report Share Posted February 1, 2016 I must be missing something (I admit I'm trying on my phone not computer!). I can't see a list or section showing me what registered shoots there are?? Or do I have to look at each club individually to see what they have on offer? The request for advice was in general not necessarily specific to a club, I put that I was in the West Midlands as advice or an invite to a club 500 miles away may not help (I should of tried to make that a little clearer, my bad! I can see exactly why you find it less than simple but it's the CPSA bless 'em. Start at the Fixtures section of the site, under Discipline select 'English Sporting', under Upcoming select 'Month' and under Type select 'Entries' then click 'Search'. It's not a perfect selection because it shows rather more than just the registered sporting shoots but you'll see what's on for the next month and with the county shown in blue. For example on the 7th, Longridge has a 100 bird reg sporting and they're located in north Gloucestershire between Gloucester and Ledbury, right by M50 J2. Well and truly in the West Mids region. But it's all there somewhere, just not where you expect it... You guys should check out the WCTSA, of which I'm a member, now that's a proper shambles!. Find the CPSA website to be quite useful and user friendly. Don't see why it's so difficult to understand that upcoming fixtures are under the heading 'fixtures' though. Entries means they are registered CPSA shoots so scores will be recorded by the CPSA if you are a member, the CPSA rules of the particular discipline will be adhered to or should be where as open basically means not recorded scores by the CPSA, can be a competition but anyone can participate. You will see various times to the left of entries if I remember correctly, they are the times for booking in, ie 9.30 to 10.30. I understand all that because I spent the time figuring out their quaint terminology some years ago, but this thread was started by someone who had every reason to expect that 'Registered' shoots would be listed as 'Registered' on the CPSA site rather than as 'Entries'. Even if you select 'ESP' and 'Entries' it still lists a shedload of events that are not registered or not ESP. I still think it's a lame website. eon Posted February 3, 2016 Author Report Share Posted February 3, 2016 Westward has grasped exactly what I asked. Others have replied (many thanks) but have missed the point of initial question! Quite a few people have posted 'find a club link' etc but either have their registered ground already or haven't tried using the system. From what I have seen you can't filter out registered shoots no matter what combination of selection you put in. I've looked in several sections (Inc type of shoot, county etc) going directly to quite a few grounds to establish where I can enter a registered shoot to find that the nearest is going to be in the area of 60 miles away. That might not seem far to some but it's a bit if a blow if wanting to practice at a ground before hand and flying solo will obviously not help my finances! Yes the odd few slip through but 80% will be registered shoots of the discipline you want to enter. If the nearest registered shoot is 60 miles away that's not the cpsas fault surely? When you look at the fixtures it will inform you under the 'categories' column what type of shoot it is ie. 100 DTL Reg =100 down the line registered. 100 OTR Reg = 100 Olympic trap Registered, 75 ESP open = an open shoot (non registered) of 75 targets.
