Les53
Really depends on what you already know and also what discipline you intend to shoot. It may be best to have a few lessons.
HDAV
Trap doesn't matter target presentation does, skeet is the answer........
grrclark
Such an open question really. Are you planning on buying a trap to practice with? If you are then as is true for mostly everything, buy the best you can afford and don't be tempted to buy something that looks great and is cheap. Look for a used promatic, bowman, laporte, etc. If you have ground to use the trap then set it up to launch clays out at 30 - 35 degrees at a medium speed, that is perfect to practice for a novice. You can stand behind it to shoot going away, stand 80 yards in front to shoot incomer and walk all around it to shoot crosser, quartering, etc from every angle. If I have misunderstood your question then I apologise.
kingo15
Trap doesn't matter target presentation does, skeet is the answer........ This is where i started and still practice on regularly. Found it very helpful for sporting as 80% of the targets are similar to a maturity of sporting targets. But get a few lessons first. Im sure there is a good coach not far from you
B25Modelman
Garden and empty gun. Follow some imaginary targets. Very cheap.

old man
Trap doesn't matter target presentation does, Thank you, that's what I really meant. Trying to improve my basic repeatabilty? Still at the muppet stage with the 12 guage!
Danger-Mouse
As I said in the other thread that seems to have disappeared. A nice steady rising incomer should give you plenty of time to mount and still get on the target.
