First signs of spring?

Yesterday in benign weather conditions whilst walking amongst a carpet of Eranthis hyemalis and Galanthus nivalis I heard a song thrush singing followed by a sky lark singing as it ascended.

Today in windy, rainy and altogether more unpleasant conditions there are no birds to be heard and the plants have closed their blooms for the day.

I've had Harvest Plums in blossom for almost a month, not the earliest I've seen it. I've seen them in bud on December 31st in the past. Frost usually gets it when it comes out this early, this year could possibly be different.

where i walk the dog the primroses have been out for almost 4 weeks, the skylarks are all singing away, the first of the cowslips was out this morning when I walked the dog, loads of trees in blossom, lets hope there are no big frosts or the autumns berry harvest for the birds will be poor, cant remember a spring this early
