If you haven't done anything wrong then you haven't got a problem. As long as you have reason to have a fac and have not been in any sort of problem especially threatening behavior and no one else has got access to the security of the weapons. no probs. whatever someone else is doing keep calm, don't get involved and keep yourself to yourself. you aren't responsible for what the world is doing.

I have a mate under Durham licensing authority. A lad who knocks around with his son has an acquaintance who is well known to the rozzers, and the police called round at last renewal to interview his son, who also holds SGC, to ask if this lad had at any time been in his house. This wasn't the one known to police but his mate!

My mate was informed in no uncertain terms that not only was his sons license at risk but also his if they received any info' that this lad was calling at his house!

Not only presumed guilt by association but association thrice removed!

Durham appear to be a law unto themselves with no effective opposition, but in all honesty have good reason to want to cover their ***** more than any other force presently.

Scotland are not too dissimilar...

Know of people losing FAC's/SGC's for "known association" reasons.

If the intel. makes it look like the family issue could boil over at any time in the future, they may refuse on those grounds

BUT

Phone the FEO & have a chat, as a lot of what goes on with FEO's is a total postcode lottery - some have more logic/common sense, & use it - others have agenda's!

Skully thats me,was interview twice, the 1st time they came when my son was at school so they came back on the night. They had their own gun slips and had every intension of taking both my sons FAC/SGC and my FAC/SGC along with the guns.

They quoted some revoked through association ruling & BASC confirmed they where right as i phoned them between the visits. My son had to prove he didnt associate with this lad but it was a friend of a friend so to speak. All because a comnunity officer who knew my son held FAC/SGC had seen him in a group and put 2 +2 together and came up with 5.

recent events with my wife's nut case family has made us have to contact the police on several occasions. I would like to point out that we have done nothink at all so we havnt been in trouble with the police are self's but could this still effect my FAC as this would relly be icing on the cake.

SPEAK WITH BASC,before anything happens as it only takes one of her family to make an accusation of threat & if 2 if them back each other up,then its there word against yours.

What do you mean by 'BASC confirmed they were right' ? Do you mean BASC confirmed Durham were entitled to revoke both yours and your sons tickets due to an assumed association with undesirables? If that's the case I'm stuffed.

Yep if they felt that we,sorry my son was associated then they could use this ruling. It has special name that i cant remember,i rang BASC firearms helpline immediatly following there 1st visit for advise as they stated that when they come back,if they are not satisfied with my sons reasons they will require access to my Guns.Maybe Dave BASC will be along shortly with the corrected name for this ruling.

I thought it was a 'mate' you were talking about.

'Known criminal associations' is the phrase, I think.

My shooting buddy decided that going back on the booze and sticking gunk up his nose would be more fun than shooting and, to give him a bit of credit, he did surrender his SGC and sold his guns but I did get a phone call from my FEO asking if I still had contact with him.

It was made very clear to me that they wanted to make sure that he couldn't still have access to my guns and, if I did associate with him, that I may lose my FAC/SGC.

I had to cut him cold. He was a decent bloke but a total **** once he started self-medicating.

Very sad.

It is; he lives in Durham; I live in another county altogether but my home town is a very small community and I can't avoid coming into contact with all those 'known to the police'. Even the Mayor has a reputation for assault and being a bully, but funnily enough no convictions :hmm: and is a SGC holder. Go figure.

Amongst the regulars in my pub ( whom I can bump into on a regular basis in town ) is a bloke convicted of manslaughter, various alcoholics, numerous drug users plus at least three known dealers ( two of whom are very successful local businessmen) several people with convictions for assault including ABH ( one of them bit off part of another mans ear, and when he turned up on site next day we all put on our ear defenders even though we were all on the roof fitting Velux windows! ) several terrier men with convictions for poaching and badger baiting, one of whom also has a conviction for hanging one of his own dogs. My neighbour served time in his teens for GBH and is employed by the Mayor I mentioned.

It's a laugh a minute I can tell you!
