Is it even possible with a .22lr to reliably and repeatedly head shoot a bunny at 100yards with correct weather (warm, dry, still summers evening) ?

I never kept my .22lr very long and only shot it to 60/70 yards tops on the few occasions I did use it.

Yes, I believe so. Mine is zeroed at 75 with a view to shooting out to 100 when conditions are good. As long as you can judge the range and know your holdover there's no reason why not.

My thoughts too, i am happy to shoot rabbits all day at 100 yds although i do use a range finder and range card. Also the rest that fits to the Landy is a great help.

Never checked out to 100yds but my 70yd zero is thumb nail most days with Eley subs without much wind. Think the most important thing to test is shot placement at 20, 40 ,50, 60 70 80 90 and 100yds, put 2 inch targets out at each of these ranges and see how you do, for the 'no so experienced' amongst us you may have a shock.

I'm afraid I would embarrass myself if I posted my 100 yard groups here, I just couldn't compete with these consistent sub 1 moa I often hear about. Yes, sure I get some good groups but I'm happy to admit that I seldom get two or three in a row.

This is the sort of thing I'm talking about:

This is not my effort - This was shot by a Swiss made Bleiker .22 benchrest rifle (£3,000?) 25x target scope, solid bench and solid rests front and rear - 100 yard tunnel range and some of the best ammunition that you can buy and a very experienced target shooter.

How does that compare with a £300 rifle on a wobbly bi-pod, shooting HP ammo out in the open air?

You can see the full ammo test here - it makes interesting reading:

To be honest head shooting rabbits with a .22 at 100 yds is just about on the ragged edge of believable. Yes it can be done but................

I couldn't do it consistantly I know that

No, no, no... Please don't ruin this fairytale, I was just starting to enjoy it.

Honestly, I do think some re-education is in order.

One yard is 36"..One foot is only 12", and there are three feet in a one yard.

To be fair, there are plenty on airgunbbs that make similar claims about their 22fac air rifles, deadly out to 100 yards. Whereas in reality 60 yards is what I consider a reliable maximum and even then, in any sort of stiff breeze, forget reliable and crawl closer.

But then, as already established elsewhere, I'm clearly not a very good shot.
