Fly Fishing for birthday present

Evening all, my dad turns 65 soon and I was thinking of paying for him to go fly fishing somewhere, any recommendations? He lives in south Lincolnshire and is an experienced fly fisherman for trout, he's been a member of a local club for years, fished on Rutland water for as long as I can remember and been to various other relatively local places. I've seen the BASC online auction lots and that set me thinking about asking on here first for ideas of somewhere different for a change, cheers.

There is a difference from river fishing and Rutland fishing !!! Unless he has a small rod 7" and light line then he will be lucky to catch on a small river as the fish are flighty and the takes are quick and easily missed, Please don't take this as an insult but if still water is his thing Rivers might not be the best idea.

Tenner in a card mate.

Your comment genuinely made me laugh! If you knew my Dad you'd be laughing too as your post sums up what I end up doing most years! "Hey Dad, what do you fancy for Christmas/birthday?" "Not really sure, I'll have a think about it and let you know".

Prime example are some of the suggestions on here as I mentioned them to him to try and gauge his response to see if I had a winner but no still not sure, "hey dad there's an auction running on eBay with lots of river fishing, what about that for a change?" "Problem is I'd have to sort out smaller rods etc and you could end up walking up and down after the fish" (ok maybe not that idea then) "well what about fishing from a boat on a lake/reservoir further afield?" "Well the issue is since it's not local I'd have no idea where to start or what the fish are taking too". Grrrr....

If he is really into his fishing and you want to do something special, hop on the boat and go here. It's beautiful, totally wild and more species of game fish than any other water in these islands.

Browns

Gillaroo

Sonaghan

Sea trout

Salmon

Char

Ferox

The sonaghan is a shoaling brown trout which pound for pound is the hardest fighting trout you will ever hook. Plus the Guinness is great.
