FalconFN
Has anyone got any experience of using dog boots for fell walking? We visit the Lakes every year but our cocker suffers from sore pads on long fell walks which limits us a bit (we have just had to abandon our planned Scafel Pike walk due to sore pads from previous fell). Tried taping baby socks on but they don't last more than a mile or two. Any ideas welcomed.
Lloyd90
If it's not an April fools... Sled dogs often have outdoor boots although not sure how they would handle rough terrain vs soft snow ?!
FalconFN
Not an April fool - didn't realise it was the 1st. Just want to avoid pain for my dog and ruined plans for the family. I don't want to waste money on over priced tatt but need something that will hold out over rocks and scree.
Hayden
One of our dogs had the exact problem as yours wen he was a puppy (Luckily his feet toughened up as he got older), we thought great, lets get some boots, unfortunately it didn't work, he never liked having the boots on and therefore refused to walk. He used to try walking with his legs straight, it was hilarious (if not a little cruel) to watch him hobble around. I guess if the dog can get used to wearing them, way before you go walking then they could be a good thing. Cheers Hayden
robbiep
From past experience, dog boots don't hold up at all well on hard paths, scree, etc.

loriusgarrulus
Shaws Paw Wax is good. I used to use it when I did agility with one of my dogs. Protects the paws over tough terrain and gives extra grip.
Marsh Monkey
Have a look on k9active.co.uk, lots if different dog boots on there. You can get boots for rescue dogs that wook rubble piles too, should be tough enough

ben0850
I know where you're coming from Falcon, the lakes fells are fairly sharp going for paws. My labs fine when out on the hills but my mates cocker does seem to suffer sore pads. Rock paws are good but bloody expensive!
