simonb
I have been having an interesting debate with a club member today who tells me that the Steyr LP50 semi auto pre charged air pistol is to be banned. Is this true I know of so many that are owned and just today saw a dealer advertising them on their web site? I contacted my MP who knows of no plans. Anybody out there have an answer? Thanks SB

simonb
This is not an EU ban but British. The EU proposed ban on semi auto rifles failed.... for now
saddler
Banned why? Maybe club member has heard jungle drums over Scottish bans & added 2 +2 and got 6 Not heard of anything but similar rumours are always on the go. Could be nothing.....more checking will find out the truth in the matter.

simonb
For any who have a Steyr LP50 this is came from BASC: "The following might assist - In short; The law (which takes precedent over everything) says they are banned, but we know people own them and the police haven’t taken action. The Home Office circular I quoted says they are OK and the law was a mistake and should carry an exception for air weapons. The law has not been clarified by amendment since the circular was issued. The Home Office circular has not been revoked either – thus creating an interesting situation which can only be clarified in court when police take action against such a gun in private possession."
