kent
It's likely the head seal not able repair easy enough to open it up The mainspring isn't under major pressure in these usually but is safer compressed before you remove the pin Paul at bond and bywater could easy sort it

malkiserow
Or.... take the opportunity to sort it better than ever. You have a wonderful airgun there. It will be even better with this suggestion..... Buy a Vmach kit from Steve Pope which will come with a superior piston seal and just get the other breach seal from an airgun parts supplier. His springs are so much better than the original it is hard to describe the feel in shooting it after the kit is in. You won't regret it and all for about £

Capital Bee
The original piston seal degrades with age and basically crumbles in the cylinder, hence no pressure. John Knibbs did the replacement for approx £15 +P&P. Breech seals are O rings, so are small money. If it is an original spring fitted, you will find probably the most preload on any sub12fpe springer, so a spring compressor is a must. It's relatively straight forward to strip down, but be careful when re-assembling as if you cross thread the bolt that holds the back block in place, you're in trouble (especially as the back block is alloy). They're smashing air rifles, I hope you get it back up and running and enjoy it.
