fox grid pop holes

Recommended Posts

I make a few different designs not sure which is the best/easiest to make yet, but tend to make them adjustable. So can slide the bars out into different positions.

Althou never had a fox in pen yet with old type u do hear off cubs gettig throu fox grids, so i have spars tight when young and can move them out as they get older. Nothing worse than seeing larger poults trying to struggle o get back in ur popholes and causing a jam/panic when ur wantig to get the birds back in and get home

Tried various ways including welding nuts onto angle iron (which is wot tend to do at moment) if u don't like welding u could drill holes in some angle for top horizontal and either bend it for side or make a timber frame for other 3 sides.

And i then use 6 or 8mm solid bar that u slide throu the holes/nuts and well into the ground, i tend to bend the bar at 90 to give u a handle to push it in but not really needed..

U could do all above in timber and dowelling rods but id be worried if dowell rotted or swelled so couldnae mve as easily, but i did make some early ones all in timber with metal rods to slide throu the holes

Never had any fox badger bother with them and means i can have grids really tight 1st week or 2 (which is the danger time) and then enlarge them as poults/cubs grow..

Damn beat me to it! I raided the works dept scrap heap last year and took all the old oven shelves. Cut a few wires out of them to make a slot each side then used chicken wire to divide them in 2 and make the wings. Completely free and all coated so should last a while
