So after a 180 mile wasted trip to canvey island yesterday to look at a motor that was reportedly in excellent condition only to find a pile of poop , today I saw another in Coventry a 200 mile round trip , pristine unmarked condition , very low mileage one owner.

I phone this morning to see if it was still for sale and is it truly in such good condition "Yes" to both I was told .

Ok I said I will be leaving in 15 mins will be with you lunch time can you hold the car until then please " OK no problem drop me a text when you are close and I will give you the exact directions as it is tricky to find "

So two hours or so later I was less than a mile away so phoned him ------Ah I have been trying to get hold of you ( no missed calls ) my colleague sold the car yesterday .

I was not a happy bunny four hours of driving for naff all , the mrs wanted to go and ask for money for wasted fuel but I was so wound up I said it would not be a good idea for me to meet the ***** .

Can we get S/H car salesmen on the GL.

I feel for you Fenboy, this brings back memories of when I was after a Disco.

I can almost understand a private seller and excuse them for being stupid, but when you ask a car dealer quite clearly, "can you walk round the vehicle and describe each panel whilst I'm on the phone" and then turn up scratching your head and wondering if they were describing a different car.....Grrrrrrr

You need to keep going mate, and you will find the one you want.

I must have missed part 1, what car are you after?

I can sympathise with this. Last week a workmate travelled from Cumbria to view a newer model of the Mercedes van he already owns, that was described as the dogs danglies ( not literally but you get the meaning ) only to find it was more like the dogs breakfast, and just over a month ago I travelled to a 'trade seller', expecting to find a garage because of the number of Landrovers he had for sale, only to find it was a private seller with a company name ( who did admittedly have a garage.... attached to his bungalow ) and the 110 in question was nothing like the vehicle advertised, although I cant deny it was a 110.
