I have been keeping a eye on a field of peas that showed promise, but the numbers just didnt build as i would of hoped for ,that is until yesterday evening . I would of liked to have left it a few more days to really build up but I am not the only shooter on this farm so it had to be done today. I Rang me old mucker apprentice Motty , usual first question have you found some ? . The only problem was I had a meeting in the morning and a bit of work around 12 o'clock ,I asked Motty can you get there early and I will join you for a bit in the morning and then after my job around dinner time . The best place to set up was in a dyke with the wind in our faces so Motty put the 6 birds and the rotary to one side and hoped that they would curl back into the pattern . This seemed to work and slowly the birds came in quite well . when the clicker hit 100 we decide to have a pick up as the flight seemed to have almost stopped , we picked up 106 wood pigeons and 4 ferals .

nice day all round

Jules had to pick the worst photo to use. I am wearing two jackets in the picture - it was fairly chilly. I have lost almost a stone, believe it or not.

Nice one , all my peas are 6" tall now and still no pigeon showing interest , has motty put on weight ?

A video of the day will follow soon.

After looking at my Pea fields that are devoid of any pigeon activity , you two chaps have giving me fresh hope that pigeons do like peas and sooner than later they might like the ones that I look after , fingers crossed.

You both done well to stick it out on a day that was as cold as a winters day , I went out to have a look but with light rain at times and a cold wind I decided to drink my coffee in the motor rather than a wind swept hedge .

Excellent bag and photo , with no signs of young pigeons , sorry I mean doves

It has been noted that Motty does not shave nor wear a tie whilst out pigeon shooting.

Nor do I come to that , I think you will find that is Norma(l) for Norfolk , unlike the Links boys who spend more time on there appearance than they do on the field shooting
