***EGE****, not ETE, don't know how to fix that typo.

So I just put down on a deposit on this gun.

Second hand, but not used that much. Price was excellent.

Anyone know much about them? I'm looking for a rough game gun, take care of vermin and corvids.

Little bit of trap for fun also.

I'm a rifle shooter really, so don't know too much about shotties.

Link to a similar gun (I got a better price) http://www.mcbrides.ie/product/ege-semi-automatic-shotgun/

If you search this in google you will find out loads. ege silah sanayi

I couldn't find that much in terms of reviews, seems to be a popular enough gun in the US and NZ, but not much about it in terms of detail or review.

Typical turkish semi auto should keep going for many years, keep it clean and it should be fine.

One point try and find out who imported it, try and locate a spares source, some guns have just been brought in by an importer and they just sell them and then decide they dont want to bring in any more, you can be left high and dry for parts.

webleys semi autos were far more prevelent than the EGE silahs and you can not get parts for them any more. Hatsans have a good parts back up, this is a plus in picking one.

Thanks for that - there seems to be an importer as there are few knocking around the place.

Can you source parts direct for the manufacturer or change the trigger? As i said, I'm new to the worlds of shotties.

hello, as tony said if you buy it and keep it in good order should last many years, i am new to semi autos to and after looking and trying a few makes in the RFD bought an armsan phenoma/612 in camo, it is a tried a tested turkish auto same as many PW members use which i hope last years for me, i am sure spares if ever needed can be found for the EGE and looks a good RFD to buy from, good luck. PS have been to Wicklow !!!! what a lovely place to live and surrounded by beautiful countryside and sea, took a party on walkers to the sugarloaf mountain with many others, was blowing a hooly that year but hey the guiness was good.

Wicklow is lovely. I do a lot of cycling around the hills and its a spectacular. Lot of deer around the place, but unfortunately a lot of poaching. there is a wooded mountain range near us that sounds like Beirut at night.

Hopefully the gun goes well (and is granted!). Its really just for vermin that the rifle can't get. We have an infestation of jackdaws at the moment that need sorting out.

No interest. The land is pretty much state owned (well a lot of it is, they don't care as long as the deer numbers are kept down). The police don't care, they are very overworked as it is. Crime in rural areas is a much bigger problem.

A few years ago a couple of guys found a guy raping a girl, they chased him off.

They lost their guns as they didn't have permission to be on the land. That is the only example I know of, but there could be quieter cases of people not getting their licences renewed.

  • 1 month later...

Application for the EGE has gone in today. Hopefully gets through.

Picked it up this morning - great fun with it on the trap grounds. Should hopefully be perfect for what I'm looking for, something just to handle some vermin, game and some occasional clays
