Beagle boy Posted May 22, 2016 Report Share Posted May 22, 2016 Afternoon all hope everyone is well, I went out clay shooting for abit today and realised the shotgun I'm currently scrapes my finger quite hard each time I shoot which is becoming very tiresome, I think the reason it catches me is because I'm a left handed. Before I left I had a nosey in the shop and picked up a bettensoli xtrail in left hand and it felt very compfy to me and fit very well. I also had a look at a church hill which I quite liked aswell. I'm edging towards a left handed as I'm not one for selling and swapping guns intend to stick with as few as possible so the re sale value doesn't bother me, are there any other makes and models you guys think would suit my needs? Remingtom 1187 are in left hand or the one i would look for is the Remington versamax sportsman, they are available in left hand in the normal model as far as i know, and the sportsman was suposed to be out in left hand late last year in the states. check with edgar brothers see what they have brought in, they are the importers laft time i knew. Two newbies in our rough shoot ( both female ) recently bought one each of these for syndicate. One of them is a left hander. Stick with a big name and it will hold its value. Just had a look and plenty of Brownings or Beretta's for under your &1000.00 use the orientation box when on the shotguns pages on the toolbar at top of page. rich1984 Posted May 22, 2016 Report Share Posted May 22, 2016 Im a leftie too, i had a beretta silver pigeon to start with but i now have a lanber sporter delux which i personally prefer to the beretta, it feels better to hold and swing ( to me ) ive also had the armsan a612 mentioned above which was a very good gun for the money i just prefer o/u. Try a few for feel before you choose. For reference the beretta was £1050 and the lanber was £350. Both were cased, had little use and with full set of chokes. I budgeted for a new sp or similar browning but couldnt find anything within a two hour round trip with one. If it were me I would spend the cash on a good quality second hand over and under first as this will suit mostly everything. I have a beretta that I bought second hand and will not part with it everything about it I like! It was a 1995 build. I know you said your not bothered about the resale value but that aside I would still opt for a more established quality brand things like trigger pulls, actions, finishing tend to be better etc. If I were buying an over and under again it would be beretta/browning/guerini. I doubt I would get into spending cash bending stocks etc. Triggers should only be an issue if it is a double trigger S x S this something I also contemplated when I had one and had some trigger issues but in the end sold it on. Also I have the Franchi Affinity in LH on order should be here soon. I am looking forward to it coming in but I know it will not suit everything for me such as pheasant days on the syndicate where I don't even think it would be allowed, spring summer crow and pigeon shooting where I know I will be standing in long growth or gaps in crops where it will be tricky finding all the spent shells etc. I think it will be good for hide work pigeons, ducks, and where I think I'll not have any bother retriving shells, but will def rely the over and under for some situations where the auto might not be the most practical choice.
