Was looking through some old photos and came across two cars i used to own. First was an F reg mini that I restored..

Went with Mazda classic red with a white pearl at 80/20 mix so a very subtle hint of pearl.

Had a Black MX5 Classic with the leather seats and chrome strut brace last of the mk1 pop up headlight model my wife loved the car. She would love the mini. Her first car was a old early 70's M reg mini in Daytona orange with a full stock mini racing engine. Sadly it was a rust bucket and didn't last long.

Had some lovely fast cars since but nothing compares fun wise to a little two seater drop top, 50mph on country roads and a huge grin on your face.

I will be looking at BMW Z4 probably the 3.0l petrol as the m3.2 is silly money and a pig to drive in anything other than perfect conditions, after I sell the current little used plaything.

The GSI was always a Q car, if you didn't know what you were looking at and the car didn't have too much cosmetic stuff, it always upset the german machine drivers :)

Still got the GSI tucked away in the garage. Had it almost 10 years and done 15000 miles in it. image.jpegr

I'm a great fan of Mazdas - the wife is on her second 'generic mum vehicle' as number 1 son refers to it (the Mazda 5) and none of them have cost me any significant money or given us any grief. I'd go as far as to say I have some Mazda brand loyalty.

Following on, I always thought it a shame that Mazda never made a proper balls out sports car - the mx5 just isn't quick enough to count (everyone went for the Honda S2000) and the rx7 too quirky for words.

Loving that XK - it's either that or the big Austin Healy for me alright.

The problem is that having had a few older cars I now fully appreciate abs brakes, electric Windows, power steering and above all reliability - there is no point having any car if you don't have the confidence of it starting and getting you from A to B, and so that rules out most older cars for me.

The mx5 was never made for speed, it was more the fact that driver and car were perfectly balanced and you could drive it. Saying that i have been in a few turbo'd and supercharged mx5's and wow, the car still handles brilliantly with the extra power.
