Looks like you maybe able to alter the pitch, if that is the case and using dead birds, i would think it will put a lot of strain on the shaft.

exactly what i thought as well...........tell you what...it looks like a really well made machine..........

It does seem very well made, and it has a hefty motor on it to.

I'll see if I can post some more pics

I assume that is a home made job.

Adjustable pitch for the bird arms and you can stand in one place and set your birds up by flicking an arm forward by 180 degrees :good:

It isn't home made, according the the post on Ebay it is a Sealand Magnet, but we couldn't find anything like it.

It looks like a slip drive , when power is shut off the motor stops and the arms continue to rotate through innercia, it reduces strain and possibly loosening the motor to arm bolt connection.

Used a friends rotor similar to that.

The rotor no doubt turns anti clockwise, if the power is shut off without the slip arrangement there is a strong possibility of the main motor shaft nut being undone .

Keep the arrangement lubed and in a free working order.

If the black boss is rotated against the green boss rotary movement will cause a vertical movement which when connected to the arms will be a sort of swooping rotation. It looks like a fair old solid piece of kit to hump across a field. Just to think that Archie Coates used to make do with chucking a decoy bird out of the hide like a boomerang.
