hi guys, i,ve only been shooting clays for about 12 months. i have a Breda semi long recoil which i get on with ok, also a Lanber o/u which i don,t do to bad with, thing is i,ve just invested in a brand new ATA semi auto synthetic and can,t hit a damn thing,it,s the green model 12g auto.i,ve taken it out six times along with my other guns but can,t seem to get along with it at all. i think it may be i like heavier guns, i wish i,d had invested in a decent s/h gun.any advice would be most welcome.next step get rid.

As mentioned gun fit etc. Also you don't mention choke. If it's got full choke in it you're likely to struggle.

lots of usefull info, thanks guys, to answer a few questions, the choke was cylinder, the pattern seems spot on, perhaps it is the gun fit but it feels ok. i,ve decided to have a coaching lesson before i make up my mind, thanks for the offer welshwarrior but a bit far away, again thankyou all for the input.

Check that the choke threads on the barrel have been cut properly. The choke in my Benelli M2 was in the barrel at an angle, throwing the pattern high and left. It was only by using a pattern plate that I saw this. To cut a long story short, I got a new barrel from GMK, under warranty. They were very good about it, in their defence.

Sorry mate, just hit 'edit' since I realised that you've already said that the gun patterns ok. Hope that you get it sorted, whatever the issue is!

Hi i have an ATA neo automatic and i notice that it definitely shoots high i have to aim at the bottom of the target. I like you struggle after using my o/u until i remember to shoot a little lower.

I like the ATA cycles lovely and had only one jam ever and that was when my old man was using it !! so i blame him..
