Best auto shotgun to buy

Simple question really, if I had around £1,700 to spend on a semi what guns should I consider? Use will be mainly clays and rough shooting. Like the look of the Remington 1100 Competition Synthetic but can't find much feedback on it, apart from some slightly negative reviews on us sites.

Will become my main gun.

I have always used Remingtons , softest shooting auto out there...but i think the Competition is too expensive ,for what it is, new

I have seen secondhand , as new , guns for between £700 -£800 , a saving of around £400

I am eagerly waiting for the Remington V3 to come to these shores...very positive feedback on USA forums

A few reviews here http://randywakeman.com/shotgun.htm plus other makes

Yes I agree about fit, but I would rather spend all my budget on the best gun I can find. I realise I could go out and buy several Hatsans or Revo's for that amount but thats not the point, I want the best possible gun I can afford. At the top of the list so far is the Benelli but I may also try out the new A5, I really like the 125th celebration edition!

Great info guys thanks

definitely wouldn't recommend the 1100 cs for a rough shooting gun, too long and too heavy.

if you want to blow your whole budget on a gun that would be a good allrounder then for me it would have to be a new benelli supersport.

if you're going to be more clay biased and want to save a bit a beretta tenkys gold is a nice gun, but only second hand now.

if you want to save a bit back then a Winchester sx3 or browning maxus.

one that's not mentioned too often is the fabarm XLR. mine's been ultra reliable, and second hand they are an absolute bargain compared to new price.

I think you need to decide if your gun requirement is more clay or rough shooting biased as for me this would mean a different recommendation.

best advise is to try a few and see what suits you, people generally recommend what they use, not necessarily what's best for you.

I bet beretta sell 5:1 against all other brands. That sums it up really.

Beretta certainly sell more semis than any other manufacturer, but not sure its 5x more.

Fact is Benelli is part of the Beretta family as well.

I had a Beretta 303 for many years and replaced it with a Beretta 391 probably 10-12 years ago, I still have it, just the same, Benelli are more than OK!

:good:

I am a big fan of Benellis Had SBEs for years no regrets, but as a clay comp gun they would not be my choice.

If i were to want to take up claytbusting again and were to go with a semi auto both highly unlikeley by the way, it would be with a Winchester Sx3 Flanigan.

They handle great look the part for a clay gun, and i have seen nothing but good things where sx3s are concerned. And the flanigan is well inside your budget.

I doubt you will find a 125 now as they were limited to 500 worldwide. I tracked one down in France but the seller would not ship to the UK. The standard UP or Ducks is the same gun for less money.

yep, been there and done it,

Dear Sir,

Browning only made 500 of these and they were sold within a few days. Unfortunately we cannot help with this shotgun.

Kind Regards

Phone them and they like to sell you the UP or Ducks.
